  3. Here’s my book, Entrekin, at Lulu.

It’s my debut book of fiction, essays, and poetry, and topics range from stories about Edgar Allan Poe and the single life of a young man, to non-fiction detailing the events of September 11th, 2001 (I was there that day, and watched it all occur). One of the poems won honorable mention from the Academy of American Poets, and it became, in its digital form, the first e-book to appear on Apple’s iPhone.

If you’d like to take a look, I can happily send a .pdf along. Any attention the book receives contributes, ultimately, to a greater cause; one dollar from the sale of every copy goes to the United Way New York City.

“My New-Found Land” is a road trip story set in a fractured post-peak oil America. It’s also a coming-of-age story, but mostly it’s about searching for a place to call your own in a world where nothing comes easy except the things you’re not so sure you want.

Don’t be put off by the page count– the novel is illustrated, which added to the page count in a major way.

Here’s what someone else had to say about “My New-Found Land” http://thommalyn.blogspot.com/2007/12/my-new-found-land.html

On following the letter to its source he finds himself in a new world — one where the power of the will allows the transformation of reality itself.

  12. Hello, I have recently published with Lulu, a self-help paperback. Having no previous experience and little more than a highschool education qualifies me for all the help I can get. I would not dare put this book on the market as is, although it is (as of this week) offered privately to a few selected friends.
The Lulu link address is http://www.lulu.com/content/2054380 …however , it is only a preview.

I do have a pdf file supplied by Lulu that I would gladly email to you if you find time and desire to review it. Thanks….Paul

Cecilia Richards is single, saved and sassy as her nickname implies. She is also an unapologetic know-it-all. Sassy has no problem pointing out the imperfections in others’ lives, including her best friend, Amber, who is involved in an illicit relationship with a married man, and her neighbor, Jayna, who has a deep, dark secret from her past.

Sassy’s pristine world begins to crumble when her man, Darnell, finds fame and fortune more alluring, she falls out with both of her girlfriends, and her career as a top marketing executive is compromised. Can “Miss Perfect” get it together before she loses it all?

Pick me. I’d like your honest opinion. Thank you for considering me.

  17. Storyteller by G. R. Grove
    http://www.lulu.com/content/282382

“Blood and fire, gold and steel and poetry, a river’s voice in the silence of the night, and the shining strings of a harp…” So begins the tale of a young man’s adventures as a wandering storyteller and would-be bard in 6th century Wales. A unique blend of historical fiction and magical realism, told in the voice of the bard himself, this is the first book in a new series.

(information on the second book follows - .pdf available on request).

  18. Flight of the Hawk by G. R. Grove
    http://www.lulu.com/content/559109

Britain in the summer of 551 AD: The North is a tinderbox about to burst into flame, the Saxons are stirring again in the East, and Cynan Garwyn, Prince of Powys, is doing his best to foment war in the South. In the midst of this simmering chaos, two young bards - Gwernin Storyteller and his friend Neirin mab Dwywei, the Poet-Prince that some call “Taliesin’s Hawk” - are sent to the North by their master to investigate the rumors and do what they can to prevent a war. At least, that was their mission - but the two young men find plenty of other adventures along the way. Girls and beer, bloodshed and magic - will they survive the summer and make it home alive?

This is the second book in the Storyteller series. Although it continues the adventures of the narrator of Storyteller, it should also be able to stand on its own. (.pdf available on request - I have a number of good reviews for the first book but could really use more for this one.)

  19. Fire and Souls
    by Kevin King

61 original poems on life, love, religion, and politics from the heart and mind of Kevin King. Sometimes dark, sometimes satirical, sometimes warm and bright, always straight from the heart.

I’ve been writing these poems since I was 17 (1993) as a kind of personal therapy, self expressions of a shy little boy in a man’s body.
They are a collection of thoughts and experiences, a diary in poetry - poetry that anyone can relate to on some level, poetry for everybody.
Good poetry should speak for itself, so I hope you will read it and hear what it says to you.

    by
    Tracey Morait

Hi, there. I am a UK author who published my first children’s book ‘Goalden Girl’ with Lulu.com in December 2007, and I would very much like to join your review queue.

‘Goalden Girl’ is aimed at the 9-12 age range. It’s the story of Gemma Sutherland and her determination to start a football (soccer) team for girls at her new school, despite the opposition of the boys, led by her hated stepmother’s nephew, Tyrone Collins, who happens to be the school’s football star.

The book is set in the UK and slang and language is localised.

It has sold copies at Amazon.co.uk. Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble, Buy.com, Blackwells and Waterstones (UK), and has received some favourable reviews so far. These are listed on Amazon.co.uk, Barnes and Noble, and BookIdeas.com. I am waiting for some more reviews to come through.

    Many thanks for your time.

See http://www.lulu.com/content/2057931. The book was reapproved for distribution on 26 March, and I am still waiting for it to appear on Amazon, etc.
My poetry is thought-provoking and addresses a wide variety of subjects in everyday life, Nature, humor.
This is my third book of poetry. I have been writing poetry since 2001. The previous two books of my poetry were well-received. I would appreciate a review greatly, for which I would be most appreciative.

This book is a compilation of my “tried and true” information on how to establish and maintain a successful transcription business. This is very niche-specific, but covers an array of specialties within the field: medical transcription, legal transcription, law enforcement transcription, etc.

I would love a review and welcome constructive comments to improve the quality of my book. Thanks for considering my book and for providing such a useful service to Lulu authors!

Red Asphalt tells a sad, violent and strangely comic tale of a troubled courier whose daydreams of becoming a successful writer have been squashed by the onslaught of everyday life. 26. The Tatiana Principle is a short story about an unnamed agent of a covert organization whose mission is to capture members of several terrorist cells hiding in the United States, while avoiding getting caught himself.

This is my first of a series of books based on this character. It’s also my fourth book and my third fiction book.

The truth is that if I don’t get a review on whether this story is any good, I won’t know if I should continue the series. I think it’ stellar, but I’m biased.

PDF copy will be made available upon request. Thank you for considering me.

  27. Hi,
I’d like very much for you to have a look a my first collection of seven short stories ‘Footsteps in the Darkness.’

    http://www.lulu.com/content/2111964

It details moments of the lives of the characters in each story, with a powerfully visual style (people have told me!), dealing with contradictions, uncertainty and other related themes. There is the girl who loses her innocence about the dangers of life, the man who cannot take photographs and the story that can never be printed.

I would very much appreciate a review and any feedback you can offer me.

    Many thanks,

  28. Here’s the first book in my space opera novel, To Catch A Thief - http://www.lulu.com/content/1513367

Although it’s the first in a series, it stands alone. It’s a fast-paced fun science fiction novel, in which the crew of a small star freighter find themselves accused of a crime they did not commit, and resolve to clear their name… before they lose their ship to the authorities.

The second book of the series will be published in mid-2008.

  29. What would you do if you could travel through time? What if it was only a one-way trip…?

I wrote “The Time Cavern” to appeal to pre-teen and young adults who enjoy an engaging adventure/science fiction story. I also think it is a very educational story highlighting life in rural Amish America. It’s the first in what will likely be a three part series. It’s a fast read at only 157 pages. I’d really appreciate feedback on the story.

    Synopsis:

When ten-year-old Aaron moved from the big city to the middle of Amish country, he felt transported to a different and simpler time and place. But after finding a faded and long forgotten diary page of a boy gone missing over one hundred years earlier, Aaron began an adventure more wondrous and exciting than he could have ever imagined. Befriended by a local farm girl named Jake, together they search for answers to this century long mystery and uncover the secrets of an astounding cavern that will literally take them to the edge of time itself.

  33. Hi,

I’ve recently published a collection of short stories through Lulu called ‘Not All Of Them About Zombies’, which you can find here: http://www.lulu.com/content/2049440

This anthology blends together many genres such as fantasy, comedy and horror. I can assure you that you have read nothing like it. You can discover how Little Red Riding Hood grew up after her encounter with the wolf, find out what happens to man who finds he is sharing a body with someone else and see what would happen when a young boy comes face to face with his fears personified and the woman from his dreams. There are 10 stories in all, each very different from the last and I am hoping to use any feedback I get to sell my novels to a publishing house. So I would greatly appreciate the time if you could spare it.

    All the best,

    Matthew Rowe

  41. This, my first full novel, has been published on Lulu and is now being made available worldwide. It is largely a true story, a memoir, embellished a little for various reasons… but most every episode is depicted as it happened to me. This is a very real story about my upbringing, my coming of age, and the very drastic (sometimes life or death) challenges I have overcome. Early reviewers are impressed by the “lack of hubris” and “refreshing honesty”, two of my trademarks. I would liken the story to The Catcher in the Rye, only with a very different setting. The story takes the reader from my early childhood to the present day.

I would be very honored to have an objective review posted by Lulu Book Review.

This is the typical “blurb” I use to promote the book online:

Minus the Imple is a fictionalized true story about one man’s quest to find the answers to the phenomena that punctuate his experiences throughout his life. It’s a story about love and loss, faith and humanity. Does the human soul really exist, or is it merely a reassuring notion most people fully accept as real? Why do we believe in some things we have never seen, and yet we refuse to accept other notions that can’t be ruled impossible? Faith is a curious thing. We will believe what we will. Minus the Imple will make you think as you review unexplainable episodes from your own past. All you have to do is be willing to open your mind and believe in something you can’t see.

Many thanks for your time and consideration.

  47. Hello. My name is Stephen Outram and I’m grateful for you considering my book for review. There’s No Sex In Golf! has been with Lulu for about a month here - http://www.lulu.com/content/2319524

The book came about when after 30 years of enjoying the game of golf, I gave up and had no-clue as to what had happened. I came to realise that I had unconsciously traded ‘playing’ for ‘competing’ and in that, lost the joy and adventure of a fabulous game.

Looking further, I found that many golfers suffer golf and with that comes frustration and often anger. It is near impossible to create something truly great from that place. It was interesting to discover that what’s happening in golf, is often mirrored in life. And that a change generating some improvement in one area, effects the other.

I’d be happy to email a pdf. Please let me know where to send it. Thanks and what else is possible?

  51. I am interested in having my book, Caregiver or Taker, reviewed. I believe that the topic of ‘financial senior abuse’ is an issue we all need to be aware of. Everyone has parents, friends, loved ones, neighbours who could very easily fall victim to such predators in our society. My book is a memoir, and detailed account of a true story. It is heart-wrenching and frightening to believe that such people exist and take advantage of the most vulnerable. This type of crime can happen to anyone.

I could send the PFD file, but just not sure how.

Thanks for your time, and I hope this piques your interest.

  54. Hello, I am hoping you will consider choosing my book for your review.
The book title is Out of Reality, it can be found at http://www.lulu.com/content/2628745

    Synopsis:
Out of Reality is the first installment in the series where Kara, Justin, Elex, Leeann and Na meet each other and learn of their powers and their destiny as the chosen ones who will save the world from evil. In this book, the five must learn how to use their newly discovered powers to defend themselves from an unseen being that hunts them and threatens to enslave Naranda while learning to work as a team despite their differences and disagreements.

A tale of adventure, of unlikely heroes full of humor and personality, I believe you will read this story and enjoy the trip, as other readers (many of whom were not fantasy readers before reading this book) have recently done.

    Thank you for your time
    Charlene

  55. Hi,
Here a reviewer tells you why you should review this book. “Be forewarned, this book will shock you. It is likely to make you cry if you are an animal lover, and might cause feelings of depression if you did not already know what kind of pain and suffering innocent creatures are so often subjected to by our fellow humans. For some this will be a needed wake-up call.”

  56. I there (again)… I have a new action/adventure novel out now titled: SHAKEDOWN. I’d love a review on it. I’ll be happy to send you the PDF file if you’re interested in giving a review. The novel can be found at: http://www.lulu.com/content/2830517

You can also see a quick video trailer on my website at: http://www.tparrington.com

All Kirk wanted was a pint of ice cream and some pickles. He wasn’t looking for trouble. Trouble was looking for him.

The sleepy little town of Havendale is about to experience a SHAKEDOWN.

  57. Wow, Shannon, I’d have thought after your Lulu post on June 29th, you’d have folks lined up out the door! I’ve definitely got one for you (Dilemma, which actually involves NO sports this time!), and you’ve already probably seen it on my site. But I think I’ve hogged the spotlight enough for one month!

  58. Hello! Yeah, down here! See me at the bottom? HaHaHa!
I, like every single post above me, have written a book on Lulu.com.
The digital PDF copy of my book is completely free to all that wish to read it. I will probably never make a profit this way, but at least I didn’t pay much to get published.
The title of my book is “Before September Falls.” It is a coming of age story that takes place the summer before the main character goes to college. It chronicles his many adventures, including and not limited to losing his virginity and drinking himself into oblivion.
The one difference I find between my book and the many like it is the honesty. I tried so hard to capture the innocence of that time of life without being exploitative or candy coated.
So, feel free to download a copy at http://www.lulu.com/jesselee.
I’d love a review, but if that doesn’t happen, at least I hope you enjoyed what you read.

  59. Hi -

I respectfully request your considered opinion of my book, HANDLE TiME.

The LULU link for HANDLE TiME is

    http://www.lulu.com/content/687084

I would like your review for several reasons. One reason is that II have no idea how my books read against others which may be put out via-LULU. I would like to know if you feel my book measures up to the current quality of the POD books that are being released, these days.

Another reason is because I think HANDLE TiME is a book that proves that POD books can push the creative envelope — in a way that traditional books may not be aboe to; due to bureaucratic constraints. I believe in my publisher (4465 PReSS) and this is the House they have chosen to publish their books. Based on the way I write, I am thankful they did.

If you do consider HANDLE TiME worth reading, I hope you will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it. I had a blast!

    Thanks for your time.

    Best Regards,

  60. PS –

I apologize; I did not completely follow your instructions. Please accept this brief book synopsis:

    HANDLE TiME

Just who ARE those phone support people you call every day — you know — the support reps who give you troubleshooting tips, sales slogans, prepaid phone refills, directory assistance, driving directions and bank balances?

Have you ever wondered where THEY go once you hang up the phone?

In her third novel, HANDLE TiME, contemporary fiction writer, LiNCOLN PARK, brings you a saucy, searing and HILARIOUS story; which explores the inner workings of an AMERICAN CALL CENTER. Take a guided tour — if you dare — through this weird, wild world of worker-bees; which exists in twisted parallel to your own! PARENTAL ADVISORY

    Thanks again,

  63. I love this website, keep up the great work and I hope that you will find time to review my novel ‘The Girl On The Bus’. I would be happy to send you the pdf whether or not you review my work so please get in touch. The novel is a thriller chiller, as if Raymond Chandler had added a horror element and set his hard boiled novels in the North of England instead of California. the great crime novels of the USA have always been the major influence on my writing, from Chandler to Dashiell Hammett, and so I would love my work to be reviewed and read by an American audience.
    SYNOPSIS:
John Halle is leading an ordinary life, trying hard to forget the drug induced death of his partner a year previously. On the bus to work he sees a green eyed girl who stares at him without saying a word. His sense of unease grows and when he disembarks he sees an old woman get hit by a car that speeds off leaving her dead and clutching a green jewel in her hand. Halle soon finds himself at the centre of a deadly game and is being framed for a murder that hasn’t been committed yet. His life takes a turn for the worse when he discovers that he is being used by forces from beyond the grave to avenge a killing of ten years ago, but if Halle can somehow survive this world of ‘kill or be killed’ then maybe, just maybe, he can discover the truth about himself and his lost love. The pace is relentless and the action brutal and tender by turns but the complex plot comes together with an unexpected twist at the very end.

  65. hello, my name is tony nesca, here’s a link and brief book bio to my latest with lulu:

The Do-Nothing Boys is Tony Nesca’s brand new novel, a raucous tale of teenage rebellion recounting the exploits of a teenager named Ziggy, recently returned to Canada after a three year hiatus in his native country of Italy, and the group of friends that spontaneously gather around him. A result of parental divorce, he turns to sex, drugs and rock and roll and in the process discovers deep friendship, love, loss, disintegration, and the beautiful, sad and wondrous experience of living. Written in an incendiary and gritty stream of consciousness, the words cascade down the page in a free-flow waterfall of ideas and happenings, hallucinatory at moments with surreal jaunts of what Nesca himself calls “word music”, but never straying far from the downright gritty and street-tough prose, laced throughout with a constant sexual/erotic underpinning.

  66. My book ‘Shift of the Dead’ takes the zombie genre off on a tangent. All of the characters are normal, everyday people. No policeman, no ex-army guys, no survivalists. Just a small group of employees who get stuck in their store during a zombie uprising.

The people that have purchased it so far have enjoyed it. I hope you will too.

  67. My first book has just been published and I’d LOVE to know what others think of it. My friends and family rave about it, but maybe that’s because they love me - I’d like an unbiased point of view. The Goddess Book of Psalms is only the first of several projects I’m working on. Here’s a link to it: http://www.lulu.com/content/3161746

  68. Hello,

My latest book, BURNING IN THE HEAT, is a 174 page collection of 15 loosely connected stories, which deal with the complex, and sometimes disturbing, relationships between men and women, friends and lovers. Jealousy and passion, loneliness and self-destruction are the metaphoric heat that burns just beneath the surface of each story.

I would be happy to provide a hardcopy, or .pdf file, for your consideration. A preview link to the first story is available on my Lulu page, http://www.lulu.com/content/2582806

    Thank you for your consideration.

I’ve been able to get the book onto the shelves of several branches of Waterstone’s (including their flagship branch which is the biggest bookshop in Europe where the book has sold out). Here’s a portion of their review.

‘This story pulls together loads of ideas and genres and will appeal to fans of the Da Vinci Code, Mission Impossible and James Bond to name but a few. If you enjoyed The ‘A’ team, love Indiana Jones and enjoy the fantasy of ‘X men’ you’ll really relish this stylish action-packed adventure.’ Waterstone’s

A unique focus on girls’ track and cross country and two compelling debates - one of Catholicism versus Protestantism and the other concerning Creation versus Evolution provide plenty of food for thought and inspiration in this second book in a five book series.

Why should you review this one? I could spout off a lot of egotist claims to try to impress you, but that would be contradictory to the theme of all my books. You’ll want to review this one because you want something different than the mundane fiction, one that contains a good story but goes way beyond that.

  73. Hello,

My name is Jennifer Wood and I am the author and publisher of My Molar Pregnancy: A Collection of Personal Stories From Diagnosis Through Recovery. I am writing to request a review.

This book is the first of its kind: a collection of real women’s experiences with the rare and tragic diagnosis of molar pregnancy, a potentially cancerous complication of pregnancy. Few women have heard of the condition, and few doctors have treated women diagnosed with it. This book is important because for the first time women diagnosed with a molar pregnancy have a way of reaching out to others like them and helping them feel less confused, frightened, and alone.

I hope you will consider reviewing my book. For more information about molar pregnancy you can also visit my web site, MyMolarPregnancy.com. Thank you.

  75. Take a look at “The Four Filters Invention of Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger. Two Friends Transformed Behavioral Finance.” Paperback. ISBN 978-0-6152-4129-6

    http://www.lulu.com/content/3215722

Description: “The Four Filters Invention of Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger” examines each of the basic steps they perform in “framing and making” an investment decision. This book is a focused look into this amazing invention within “Behavioral Finance.” The genius of Buffett and Munger’s parsimonious four filters process was to “capture all the important stakeholders” in a “multi-variable” equation or formula. Imagine…Products, Enduring Customers, Managers, and Margin-of-Safety… all in one mixed “qual + quant” formula.

  76. August Review Request

I realize that I may be too late for the August Book Review request, as you may already have all of your choices for the month, but I figured it couldn’t hurt to put in for it - just in case. Hopefully if you already have all of the books you plan to review for August selected, you will keep mine in mind for a later time.

I would like for you to review my debut Young Adult novel, Misfit McCabe. The publication of this book has been a journey that started quite a number of years ago. I won’t go into all of the details, but last year, I took the manuscript off the shelf, blew the dust off, and tweaked it one last time. I was absolutely thrilled with the advent of POD publishing because that meant that I would finally realize my dream to put the pages of my “child” between covers.

    Synopsis:
As summer was coming to and end, accidentally burning down a shed became the least of 14 year old, Katie McCabe’s problems. Having lost her mother when she was just a baby, Katie was shattered to learn that her father was seriously ill. Hustled off to live with Uncle Charley while her father was hospitalized, Katie struggles with accepting her changing life. On her first day in town, she meets Harvey Jr., and they quickly become adversaries. As the warfare between Katie and Harvey escalates, involving trips to the vice principal’s office, cheating, lies, and vandalism, she battles homesickness and fear that her life could be changing forever.

I am happy to send you either a PDF file or the book in hard copy, whichever is your choice.
